Boynton is providing telehealth counseling and psychiatric treatment for students. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the clinic at 612-624-1444. Students who are currently in care can contact their providers via the MyBoynton patient portal. We are also able to see students who want to start therapy or medication treatment.

In-person mental health services at Boynton are limited to students in crisis who are not self-isolating or quarantined. Care will be provided in alignment with CDC and MDH recommendations for social distancing. Please call the clinic at 612-624-1444 to check on availability.

The University crisis lines are available 24 hours a day. Please call 612-301-4673 or text "UMN" to 61222.

Making Your First Appointment: Brief Consultation

Please contact the Mental Health Clinic by phone (612-624-1444) to schedule your first appointment. Instructions will be provided about completing required forms, and you will be scheduled to meet with Brief Consultation specialist via Zoom for 20 to 30 minutes at a time that works for you. The therapist will talk about your concerns, then schedule your next appointment with the most appropriate service for your needs.

Questions

Who can be seen at Boynton Mental Health?

Boynton Mental Health is open to University of Minnesota Twin Cities students who are:

  • Enrolled full time, and
  • Studying for a degree, and
  • Pay the Student Services Fee.
  • Or are Graduate Assistants who are enrolled in the Graduate Assistant Health Plan.

Mental health services are not open to staff and faculty.

 

How much will my visit cost?

It depends on your health insurance and whether you pay the Student Services Fee.

A co-payment at the time of your visit may apply. Any remaining costs for your care may be billed to you at a later time. Amounts vary by insurance plan. Consult your insurance card, or contact your health insurance provider for details.

With some exceptions, students who pay the Student Services Fee receive most services at Boynton at reduced cost. See details about the Student Services Fee.
