Health Insurance Requirements

University Student Insurance

Boynton Health welcomes University students.

The University of Minnesota requires students to have health insurance. If you do not have insurance, you may be able to buy coverage from the Office of Student Health Benefits.

See details on the Office of Student Health Benefits website.

University Staff and Faculty Insurance

Boynton Health welcomes UPlan members.

We take part in most UPlan health plans. UPlan members may be able to choose Boynton as their primary care clinic. Our Gopher Quick Clinic is open to most UPlan members with copayment, consult your insurance card for details.

Flu shots, health coaching and health screening are offered to UPlan members at no out-of-pocket cost. These benefits also earn Wellness Program points that can lower your UPlan premiums.

See details about the UPlan on the Office of Human Resources website.

Billing and Student Services Fee

If you have any questions about a bill, call our patient accounting department or see billing information.

If you are a student who pays the Student Services Fee, the amount of your bill not covered by insurance will be paid for from the Student Services Fee — some exceptions apply.
