Enroll in or waive the Student Health Benefit Plan by February 6, 2025
You can access the Health Coverage Declaration by logging into MyU, clicking “Key Links” at the top of the page, and then clicking “Student Center.” You should see an automatic pop up message when you enter the student center if you have not completed this step yet.
If students take NO action to provide proof of insurance before February 6, 2025 they will automatically be enrolled in the Student Health Benefit Plan and billed.
Students on the Student Health Benefit Plan can access a virtual or temporary insurance ID card. For instructions on how to do so, visit the Office of Student Health Benefits’ website.
Complete the Immunization form
To avoid or remove registration holds, complete the Online Student Immunization Form by the 6th week of the semester. This only needs to be completed one time.
Complete Decisions: Alcohol & Other Drugs™ Online Course
All incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students are required to complete the online course Decisions: Alcohol & Other Drugs™. This course provides you with the information you need to make decisions regarding alcohol and other drugs. The program focuses on expectations, motivations, environmental impacts, and understanding blood alcohol content (BAC). It also includes our campus policies, resources, and local and state laws. Bystander intervention is addressed, focusing on early intervention and identifying when someone needs medical help—and what urgent steps must be taken.
To complete this online training:
- Go to https://umn.prevent.zone/
- Click the green “Log In Now” button.
- Log in with your UMN Internet ID and password.
The course you are enrolled in will be listed. Click on the course name to enter the course. Save and print the certificate of completion — this is your course completion record.

Transfer prescriptions to the Boynton Pharmacy
If you plan to have your prescriptions delivered to campus, transfer them to Boynton Pharmacy before the semester begins.

Gopher Quick Clinic
The Boynton Health Gopher Quick Clinic offers convenient care for minor illnesses at our East Bank clinic. We diagnose, treat, and write prescriptions during shorter, more focused visits than primary care visits. Call 612-625-3222 to schedule a same-day appointment.
Urgent Care
Boynton Health Urgent Care is open for students that experience sudden or severe medical conditions or injuries that need immediate attention. Call 612-625-3222 to schedule a same-day appointment.
Pharmacy
Boynton pharmacists and our pharmacy staff are dedicated to college health. We provide products and services specific to the health and wellness of our University community and strive to help students achieve their potential. In addition to dispensing medications, we provide gender-affirming care, medication disposal, and free safer sex supplies.

Mental Health
Whether you have been dealing with a mental health diagnosis for a while or are just struggling with being away from home for the first time, we’re here to help. Boynton Health offers Psychiatry services, Solution Focused Therapy (SoFT), Psychotherapy, Substance Use/Abuse Assessment, Care Coordination, Group Therapy, and more.
If you currently receive mental health care and need to change to a provider closer to campus, we suggest contacting Boynton Health during the summer to transfer your care and facilitate scheduling. Also consider transferring prescription medication to Boynton Pharmacy. If you had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in high school, connect with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to seek accommodations.
Primary Care
From acute to chronic care, sexual health, and skin issues, Boynton Health Primary Care is your first stop for most health questions and concerns while attending the University of Minnesota.
Physical Therapy
Our Physical Therapy Services cater to various needs, including exercises, soft tissue mobilization, spinal traction, posture analysis, joint mobilization, custom foot orthotics, and additional treatments.
Nutrition
Meet with a registered dietitian nutritionist for nutritional recommendations tailored to your needs. From helping you maintain a healthy diet to managing your weight, the Boynton Nutrition Clinic is here to help.
Immunizations
The Boynton Health Immunization Clinic offers vaccinations against many illnesses. If you are unsure of your vaccination history, we can perform tests to see if you are immune to certain infectious diseases.
Eye Clinic
We have everything you need to see better and look great, from eye exams to glasses and contacts. Our optical shop has various frames to fit your style, including sunglasses and reading glasses.
Dental Clinic
The Boynton Health Dental Clinic provides comprehensive dental care for University students, staff, and faculty. Our dental clinic offers oral exams, teeth whitening, teeth cleaning, X-rays, crowns, fillings, and more.
Additional Resources

PAWS
Boynton Health’s PAWS (Pet Away Worry and Stress) allows students to de-stress by interacting with animals right here on campus! PAWS has cats, dogs, chickens, and even miniature horses that students can meet, putting them in a better state of mind.

Nutritious U
Nutritious U Food Pantry is open during the second and fourth week of each month during the semester. Open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 to 5 p.m., Nutritious U is located on the 1st floor of Memorial Union (Room 103A). Any student can visit the food pantry up to two times per month. No proof of need is required.

Health Advocates
Boynton's Health Advocates are students living in residence halls, apartments, and Greek chapter houses trained to help students with everyday health questions and concerns. Boynton's Health Advocates will confidentially listen to your health concerns and provide items like cold medicine, safer sex supplies, pain relievers, and more.
