Jan L. Smith, LICSW

Jan Smith provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. Her therapeutic approaches are determined in collaboration with clients’ goals and what they hope to change/resolve/understand from their therapy experience. Therapeutic approaches include interpersonal, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and stress-reduction strategies. She has received advanced traning in pschodynamic and contemporary relational psychotherapy with a focus on interpersonal relationships, family of origin issues, and healing from grief, loss, and trauma. Jan has a special interest in how quality of interpersonal and interpersonal relationships impact clients' mental health. Jan is a member of the Coalition for a Respectful University, a group of University of Minnesota staff, faculty, students, administration, and community members committed to a safe and inclusive campus environment.
