Boynton Health's Urgent Care is open for sudden or severe medical conditions or injuries that need immediate attention. Urgent Care visits are focused on the urgent problem only, helping you get back into your routine as quickly as possible.

Urgent Care appointments are walk-in only.
Commonly Treated Symptoms - Urgent Care
Visits are limited to one category of concern per patient, as listed below.
- High fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Breathing difficulties, chest pain
- Head injury, concussion, severe headaches
- Injuries, cuts, burns, wounds, severe skin issues
- Exposure to chemicals, hazardous fluids, blood-borne pathogens
- Severe abdominal pain
- Allergic reactions
- Animal bites
Wait Times
Patients are treated based on the severity of their conditions. Wait times vary depending on demand. If your condition is not urgent, you can schedule an appointment in Primary Care.
Other Options
If your condition has lasted more than a few days, one of these clinics may be a better choice:

- Boynton Health Gynecology Clinic: appointments for gynecological care.
Boynton Health Gopher Quick Clinic offers convenient care for minor illnesses. The clinic is open to University students, staff, and faculty. Visits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wait times may vary depending on demand.

Boynton Health Gopher Quick Clinic is a same-day but appointment-only clinic. Call 612-625-3222 to schedule your same-day appointment.
You will be asked to arrive no more than 20 minutes before your appointment time and can expect your appointment to last 20-40 minutes, depending on the testing involved. Wait times may vary.

The Student Services Fee does not cover Urgent Care visits outside of Boynton Health. Call the customer service number on the back of your health insurance card to find Urgent Care services covered by your plan.
If you are not sure if your symptoms should be treated, or where to seek care call the Boynton Health nurse line. Calls are answered seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

After Boynton Health business hours, calls are answered by a Fairview Nurse Advisor who can provide advice and recommendations. The Fairview Nurse Advisor cannot access your Boynton Health medical record but will recommend care if needed. The Boynton Health Nurse Line is for students, staff, and faculty of the University of Minnesota.

How much will my visit cost?
It depends on your health insurance and whether you pay the Student Services Fee.
A co-payment at the time of your visit may apply. Any remaining costs for your care may be billed to you at a later time. Amounts vary by insurance plan. Consult your insurance card, or contact your health insurance provider for details.
With some exceptions, students who pay the Student Services Fee receive most services at Boynton at reduced cost. See details about the Student Services Fee.
