Health Insurance

You are required to have health insurance to be seen at Boynton. Check with your health insurance provider to see if Boynton is in their provider network.

Co-pays

Any copayment required by your insurance provider is due at the time of your appointment. Co-pay costs vary, consult your insurance card, or contact your insurance provider for details.

How Billing and Student Services Fees Work

After your visit, we will bill your health insurance for the costs of your services. Any amount not covered by your health insurance will be billed to you at a later date.

If you are a student who pays the Student Services Fee, the amount of your bill not covered by insurance will be paid for from the Student Services Fee—some exceptions apply.

About Preventive and Non-preventive Care Costs

Preventive care services — like an annual physical examination* — are intended to keep you healthy and detect health issues before they become serious problems.

Under the Affordable Care Act, when you visit a network provider, your health insurance covers preventive care services at 100 percent. See a full list of the preventive care services covered under the Affordable Care Act on the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services website.

Non-preventive care services are intended to treat or diagnose acute, existing or ongoing health concerns. Your health insurance provider will require a co-payment for these office visits, as well as additional payment to cover the full cost of services.

Even if you scheduled a preventive care visit, non-preventive services may occur depending on concerns expressed or findings revealed during your visit.

If you receive both types of care (preventive and non-preventive) at your visit, the preventive services will be covered by your insurer. Your insurer will require you to pay a share of the full costs for the non-preventive services. Check your health insurance coverage to learn more about co-payment, co-insurance, deductibles and network coverage.
