About Me: Prior to my work at the University of Minnesota, I have worked in multiple settings from outpatient community mental health to intensive day treatment programs, additionally my professional experience has included clinical management and supervision, post-adoption services, training and development. I also taught a semester of college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth so I am excited to join the University where I can support professional students who are navigating the challenges of school and life, especially during this intense socio-political time. I bring a person-centered, relational, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach to create an emotionally “safe space” for personal growth and discovery. I enjoy facilitating individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy and have extensive experience working with Black Indigenous and other People of Color and LGBTQ communities.
Outside of the office, I love watching True Crime, Bravo Reality TV, and documentaries. I enjoy reading and musical theatre, being near the water with a good book, eating sushi, traveling whenever possible, and exploring Minnesota’s state parks. More importantly, spending time with close friends and family, especially my two nieces and nephew brings me tremendous joy!
Professional Interests: As a woman of color, most of my focus has been on multiculturalism, social justice, and anti-oppressive frameworks. I value intersectionality and working with students from diverse backgrounds. My clinical interests have included depression and mood disorders, anxiety & panic disorders, trauma & attachment disorders, racial & gender identity exploration, adoption & foster care, grief & loss, along with family and relationship issues (all types of relationships), intimate partner abuse & violence, historical & generational trauma, as well as racialized work trauma & discrimination.
