Choose from Two Testing Options

Confidential Peer HIV Test

Schedule a confidential Peer HIV test appointment with one of Boynton’s trained students. Appointments last 45 minutes. Test results are confidential and will not appear on any medical record. For this type of HIV testing, there is no out-of-pocket cost for most students. You may be inclined to choose this option if:

  • you prefer to be seen by a peer;
  • you prefer the HIV test NOT be processed by insurance; or
  • you prefer the HIV test NOT be added to your medical record.

Provider HIV Test

Schedule a “Provider HIV Test” appointment in Primary Care or Women’s Health. Lab test results arrive at Boynton Health about one week after testing and are given at a follow up appointment. Test results are not given over the phone. Results will be included in your medical record.

This record is HIPAA protected and will not be released without your permission. For this type of HIV testing, there is no out-of-pocket cost for most students after the bill has been processed by their insurance carrier. Students, for detailed coverage information, see the Student Services Fee page.

You may be inclined to choose this option if:

  • You prefer to be seen by a medical provider; or
  • You are not concerned about the HIV test being processed by insurance or appearing on your medical record.

Call 612-625-3222 to make an appointment. Please specify which type of appointment you prefer.

How much will my visit cost?

It depends on your health insurance and whether you pay the Student Services Fee.

A co-payment at the time of your visit may apply. Any remaining costs for your care may be billed to you at a later time. Amounts vary by insurance plan. Consult your insurance card, or contact your health insurance provider for details.

With some exceptions, students who pay the Student Services Fee receive most services at Boynton at reduced cost. See details about the Student Services Fee.
